Carsharing

book-n-drive Carsharing

Germany, Rhein-Main | 2015 to October 2024

A nine-year partnership with the largest carsharing operator in Germany's Rhein-Main region. We built the product on top of an aging legacy platform, kept it running as that platform was retired, and led the migration to AWS with infrastructure-as-code.

Built and ran the product engineering function for a valet-parking SaaS alongside the founders. Two product lines on a .NET and AWS platform, through to a successful acquisition.

  • Financial services bamcard A SOAP security and PKI-encryption layer for the mobile client of Bosnia and Herzegovina's national card-payment processor, so it could exchange card data over public and private-key cryptography.
  • Logistics ClearDestination Canadian last-mile logistics. Driver voice-over-IP flows, a C# / WebAPI backend, and a native Android driver app with signature capture.

Genijalno is a Sarajevo-based engineering practice. For each client we combine senior architecture and delivery leadership with engineers assembled to the scope. The relationship is long-form by default: years of ownership, not a short staffing sprint.

We also take over work we didn't start. When a build has stalled, or a system has to keep running while it is rebuilt underneath, we step in, take ownership, and get it back on solid ground.

Team size scales to the work: a peak of 16 engineers, and teams of up to 8 on recent programmes. We staff to the programme, not to a fixed bench, and we take new engagements selectively.

    Days to a few weeks

    A solution-design review, a vendor-evaluation call, a second opinion on an in-flight programme, or a written target-state architecture for a regulated domain.

  2. Architecture lead plus team

    Months to multi-year

    Genijalno takes architectural ownership and assembles the delivery team around it. For programme-sized builds: a new platform, a major re-architecture, multi-vendor integration, or taking over and stabilizing an in-flight build.

    End-to-end responsibility for a product line: architecture, engineering, delivery, and often hiring the team around it. book-n-drive and ElimiWait are the canonical examples.

How we build with AI

AI is part of how we work, not a bolt-on. We use modern AI tooling, Cursor and Claude among them, across the delivery loop: AI-assisted architecture and solution-design documentation, faster legacy analysis and migration, test generation, and review support.

Architecture and review stay human-owned. AI is the accelerator, not the decision-maker, which is what regulated and enterprise work demands.
